Dylan Auditioned For UCLA And Now He's Gonna Tell You About It.

Yes he is. Because soon he will tire of telling the story over and over again. Mmm yes. Mmm kay. SO, let me start off by saying nothing in the valley would have ever COMPLETELY prepared me for yesterday. Nevah. No. But I am so so SO glad I did it.

The day began with me waking up at 5:50 AM to get ready. My untimely cold was pretty meh, so I scrounged for some Tylenol. Okay, so I tried to eat... didn't really work. We were staying at the UCLA guest house about a 2 minute walk from McGowan Hall. My mom and I walked over around 7:05. Got there and signed in. Met a very cool down to earth Junior Transfer auditionee and started to warm up my crappy voice by talking to her and her supportive roommate. While we were turning in our stuff, I really noticed how GHETTO I was! The website said to bring a resume and a recent photo. People had these beautiful, glossy, professional 8x10 color head shots and I, being ghetto naturally, had printed out a picture Alex took of me two days earlier from the computer in a black and white only printer. Ghetto dance!

Then we watched a short info-movie thing in the theater. I SAW TAYLOR STERNBERG! Go TS. Anyway, then some important guy gave us the "stomach acid" list of reasons we may not want to go to UCLA for musical theater. Y'know it's the second most rigorous program behind ENGINEERING?? Crazy! But so SO exciting. Then... our parents left and we learned the dance.

BUM BUM BUMmmm! Remember that scene from Miss Congeniality where she's trying to keep up with the dancers? I was so much worse. The dance started out fine. I was like, "Okay, this is cool." Then we got to the weird twisty-turny- sashay jumpy-leapy-things. I was totally bumping into people left and right. Ba-a-a-a-d. But I was having a lot of fun laughing at myself! And they said don't worry about it if you didn't dance. You could always learn. Well, when we started to dance WITH the music... it got worse. It was "Do You Love Me" from Dirty Dancing, y'know? Such a quick tempo! Maybe just for me, but c'mon, I sucked out loud. We only rehearsed it like three times with music. And then we performed in groups of three. AND there were three 8 counts that we were supposed to free-style... show what we wanted them to see... I even screwed those up! I stared late and I'm sure lost any chance of looking like I had the tiniest slither of rhythm. Again, smiling from laughing at myself. I even made the guy sitting in the middle of the panel laugh. I walked offstage, still smiling... and then downed my water like a camel and puffed my inhaler like an addict.

K, worst part's over, right? Yes. Okay. So next was monologues. I think they went REALLY WELL! (Holy Crap, I just heard that Heath Ledger died. Oh my gosh. It's weird to keep writing now... I'll try.) The guy was nice. Interview went really well I think. Singing too... I don't have any connection or like or dislike of HL, but IDK, I just don't feel like typing. I'm tired.

Not much else to say, but the odds are pretty slim. Out of 2-300, 16 to 18 will be accepted. YIKES!

Big D
